Constable George Wynne who was killed by Boisey Long, a black man. His death started the massacre. Ben and Fannie Dudley. Four of their sons were involved in the Newberry massacre as revenge for George Wynne who was their mother's brother. Boisey Long escaped on a back road and hid near a sink hole. Notice the phosphate covering the road. This industry drew blacks and whites to the area. The old Newberry jail where members of Long's family were held.
